What Peace Corps Taught Me About Education: Three Returned Volunteers Share Their Experience

Ann O’Connell taught Math in Tanzania 1987-89. She is now a professor and Chair in OSU’s Department of Educational Studies, specializing in quantitative research and evaluation, and very active in international partnerships with several Ethiopian universities.

Nicole Nicholson taught ESL in China 2018-2020, and is now a graduate student in the Department of East Asian Languages focusing on Japanese linguistics.

Courtney Gandy served in Zambia 2012-14 in ESL and Rural Development. She now works at OSU in the Hale Black Cultural Center as a Program Coordinator. In addition to sharing their Peace Corps work and living experiences, panelists will reflect on differences in educational settings, impacts on their views about education, effect on their careers, and other issues.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
