#SoCGrad Support Colloquium
#SoCGrad Support Colloquium is a space for @OSUEHE graduate students of color to come together and learn from EHE faculty member of color and each other. Each month, we invite a faculty host of color to speak on a topic related to graduate student experiences around research and graduate school, and department Diversity Committee chairs will be asked to help us invite the hosting faculty so that the whole college is involved. We will be certain to provide opportunities for caucus groups / small group discussions where Latinx / Black/ Native / AAPI / multi-racial students may connect with each other.

“The STUDENTS sub-group of the Racial Justice & Equity Task Force focuses on projects related to students including classroom, field, research and mentoring opportunities to help students gain improved understandings that promote racial justice and equity. In addition, the FS group works with departments and units to create or revise curriculum and the development of materials directed at issues of racial justice, equity and inclusion; assist with recruitment and admissions to compose a future student body for and from racially diverse backgrounds; and retention and promotion of URM students through added investment and support. The FS portfolio includes courses, curricula, and teaching.”
Additional Context:
As the organizers / sub-committee chairs discussed with graduate students last academic year, this format takes the burden off of faculty of color to create and participate the entire year and allows Colette & Penny to serve as supportive as allies and hold the space for these conversations to occur. To be sure, Colette & Penny will step out of the conversation at any point to allow all people of color to engage in the space without white people.
